New York City to Offer Free Unlimited Wi-Fi to Public
Residents of the Big Apple may start using public payphones a lot more. Today, New York City officials announced a pilot program to provide free, unlimited Wi-Fi to the public through old payphone kiosks.
Rahul Merchant, the city’s Chief Information and Innovation Officer, noted how offering free broadband access is part of the Bloomberg administration’s “efforts to promote greater digital inclusion for New Yorkers.”
The first location is at West 58th Street and Broadway, near Columbus Circle in Manhattan.
