Why Americans are Watching Less Television in 2012
Americans on average watched 90 minutes less traditional television weekly in the first quarter of 2012 — when compared to the previous year, according to an analysis of Nielsen data by informitv.
They are generally watching more time-shifted television — but less traditional television overall. Internet video viewing is rising rapidly, with young adults watching nearly 2 hours 15 minutes a week.
The year-on-year decline in television viewing is lower among those aged 25-34, watching 48 minutes less a week.
