SMPTE Working on Improved Digital Cinema Sound Systems

Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) is establishing a group dedicated to cinema sound for the first time in over 30 years.

The Technology Committee will be known as TC-25CSS, and is one of a number of committees focused on digital cinema.

There’s an impetus for sound specialists to develop improved sound systems. The result is 3D or immersive sound.
