Digital Movie Revenue at Home to Reach $2 Billion by 2018

Growth in digital video subscriptions, rentals and purchases will hold total consumer revenue from traditional home entertainment sources steady. According to IHS, digital purchases are set to grow by 75 percent between 2013 and 2017. In terms of worldwide consumer revenue, IHS forecasts that digital movie purchases will reach $2 billion by 2018.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Movie Produced by UK Film Crews

Following the global blockbuster franchise of Iron Man and the rest of the Avengers including Thor and Captain America, Marvel now presents its new team – the Guardians of the Galaxy.  The movie was filmed at Shepperton Studios and Longcross Studios in the South East and the scene including the flaming wreckage of an aircraft was filmed at Tilsley Farm in Bramley, Surrey.

Movie Producer Revenue will Reach $76.4 Billion in 2018

Worldwide revenue earned by movie producers from online and offline distribution will increase from $62.7 billion to $76.4 billion between 2014 and 2018. That is a healthy 18% increase.

Global online distribution of movies is expected to grow from 5.6% of revenues in 2014 to 16.6% in 2018.

Transmedia: Exploring Three ‘Planet of the Apes’ Short Films

Twentieth Century Fox has partnered with Vice Media’s Motherboard to release three short films documenting what happened during the 10 years that have passed between “Rise” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”

The “Before the Dawn” short films will show fans what happened during that decade, which led to mankind’s descent into destruction.

The North American satellite delivery network for movies and other content has gone live, heralding the beginning of a true digital cinema environment both for projection and distribution.

Digital Cinema Distribution Coalition (DCDC) has launched to 17,000 screens in 1,200 sites across the continent. The essence of the system is a ‘smart pipe’, bringing content into the cinema by satellite, broadband or even hard drive if necessary.
